Drew Banks

Drew Banks is a Memphis-raised, San Francisco-based novelist who has written and published four books, including two business books with Jossey-Bass/Wiley. His novels, Able Was I (2005) and Ere I Saw Elba (2009), are the first two books of a trilogy exploring issues of physical and emotional exile. In December, 2025, after a fifteen-year hiatus, Drew published the trilogy’s third novel, I Before E, in which a young Italian-American immigrant’s struggle to understand his family’s past precipitates a confusing, traumatic bisexual awakening, ultimately leading him back to Italy to unravel the family mysteries he’s grappled with his entire life.
