
Mickie Kennedy is a poet from Eastern North Carolina whose work explores queerness, family, trauma, and survival. His poems have appeared in journals including POETRY, The Threepenny Review, The Southern Review, Prairie Schooner, Copper Nickel, and Black Warrior Review. His debut collection, Worth Burning (Black Lawrence Press, 2026), traces a Southern childhood, the AIDS crisis, a marriage of convenience, and the long road toward living honestly. Kennedy holds an MFA in creative writing from George Mason University and lives in Maryland.
